I was driving home from running some errands when I noticed an unusual car sitting on a used car lot. Now, as you can see it is a 2012 Fisker Karma. The lot in question is not in an affluent neighborhood. Middle class at best. Obviously, from the cars in the background the lot leans toward higher end gear, but it was still a surprise.

I was pretty surprised to see it. It's a good looking car, but $75K is pretty steep for my blood.

It's not on fire, it's not a Fisker

No warranty, I'd say 30k$ at best. That's a huge risk to take
Gorgeous car though

It would be fun to transplant a LS7 and a T56 in it.

Indeed. Have to ask yourself...
Why did it end up at the wrong kind of dealer in the wrong part of town?
Why no warranty for a year old car?
What happened to the manufacturer warranty?

well the warranty was gone as soon as Fisker went belly up

I'm assuming the dealer bought it wholesale.

but this isn't some pushrod V8 that any knucklehead with a 14mm socket wrench can fix. this is serious experimental tech under the hood. at 30k$ I'll look into it, other than that sorry bub

I had read about Fiskers problems. It's a hard one to call since as the company hasn't actually gone bankrupt yet, they still should be honoring their warranties. The company is still active (although not producing cars) and seeking investors according to Wikipedia.

But yeah, at $30k it would be worth the gamble. The $75k seems like a wish rather than a realistic sale price.

you'd think no? lol

as soon as they announced bankruptcy they also announced the cease of warranty work

According to fiskerbuzz.com the warranty is technically still valid but as Fisker laid off all the people who deal with such matters there's no one to process it.

There seems to be legal precedent for the owners to get in on the bankruptcy behind the creditors to get something back due to the failure to honor the warranty. This is apparently what happened when Daewoo US went bankrupt.

hmm only time will tell when all those electric engines start dying to see what happens.

unluckily for fisker most owners tend to be a) famous and b) wealthy, so they'll be in their arse about this for a while

On the other hand, they're too wealthy to care and only bought it for the cool factor of being environmentally friendly whilst also able to show their wealth. So it can sit in the garage, behind an old Gallardo, broken, forever more now the initial wow factor is gone.

haha your perception of wealthy people is making me laugh. Maybe a celebrity or two will merely dispose of it, but trust me...most people who've made their money the hard way aren't wont to merely dispose of a 100k automobile...especially when the market value has taken a dump (no insurance incentive). They'll be up in arms about it.

You are right, I didn't differentiate between the famous and the rich. This is mainly because when I think of Fisker all I see Justin Beiber and his chrome one.

haha well he's just ONE karma owner...my neighbor has one actually and he's shitting bullets about the warranty last time I checked.

So I revved my E39Ms engine and told him that I can always fix mine with a couple socket wrenches

we have a difficult relationship.
